State of Decay #21 (June 2026): Small updates.

It’s now (or well, very much almost), halfway through the year! Unfortunately that also means that it’s now summer - part of the year famous for sucking bigtime. Before summer had even started, there was a nice *warm* welcome at the end of May in the form of a heatwave; brilliant… (at least it was only a little warm for a day and a bit).

Anyway, what’s happened in the last month then? Well, despite the fact that I’ve got nothing to show for this SoD, quite a bit actually! Do you remember that album I announced last year, well you wouldn’t considering I never talk about it (^^; The point being that I’ve made a nice batch of progress on that this month; I’m actually almost done with the music half! (As in just getting some feedback for any last mixing related edits, tiny mistakes that might have slipped through, or easy to do additions/edits). The other thing was that I’m effectively done making sprites for the time being, which is a big reason there’s been a decent push on the album.

Told you once sprites were done I’d shift full focus to something else~

Other than that though, there wasn’t much - The second to last week of the month had my laptop’s charge monopolised by a certain *someone* -_- So that perfect week for making an *even* bigger push on the album was snuffed out (not that it ended up mattering much), and then there was the (tiny two day) heatwave over the last week which meant I could only make stuff in the morning while it was still cold - Although that’s not a huge deal considering 60%~ of my output happens in the morning anyway.

So why nothing in the blog post if there was a decent amount of stuff done? Well… none of it’s really showoffable, so meh~ I could post a completed track from the album, but I feel like doing that more than once sort of defeats the point - might as well just release all the music individually once I’m done with each one at that point…

I suppose on the album itself, it’s changed *quite a lot* since I announced it last year; the reason it hasn’t come out by now is that about the first six months or so of work on it ended up being funneled into the game. I also took an extra bit of time to practice making music *just* a touch more so the final result would be less bad~ currently I’m very happy with how it’s turning out - Just need to see if my test listener will think even remotely the same thing (^^;

Regardless, I’m planning that it *should* come out for the anniversary? That’s the goal at least, seems pretty reasonable considering the main hurdle, the music, is as good as done; I’ll discuss more about it in next month’s SoD once I know everything is pinned down.

Oh, and also, that thing I tried doing this month to reduce sitting pain was very effective, not perfect mind you (only get about an hour and a half before mild pain), but I shouldn’t *have* to effectively take a week off sitting down to work on Toparo every other week, another reason I’m mildly hopeful I’ll have the album done for September fourth (outside of something crazy, it should be good for the anniversary).

Also, also, if this SoD reads weird, that’s because I had to edit it a bit to reflect what I did over the last week of May; that’s the one downside to writing these around the twentieth~

This month’s crystal ball grazing: The sun rises, the sun sets, if the sun decides to stick around - tell it ‘no.’ It will fall with a frown, but the moon will rise with a grin.
