State of Decay #18 (March 2026): Small updates + New story + TALENA 4th anniversary.

Four years…

Four whole years since I actually properly started game development, simultaneously it both does and doesn't feel like it’s been that long (^^; And would you look at that, this is the first (non SoDS) SoD that has *three* whole talking points! That might make you think there’ll be a decent bit here, but not really - Just three very short talking points~

Might as well go in order listed, so here’s the bits and pieces that happened this month: There was some pretty decent effort in making more character portraits, twelve to be specific which isn’t so bad all things considered; I even used my YouTube for the first time in what feels like ages and posted the process of shading for one of them which is below (yes it was for MoWS and not the game but shh).

Other than that there was unfortunately very little if I’m being honest, there were some attempts at making music which didn’t go far alongside the usual super small stuff I never bother mentioning~ I was hoping February would be just as productive as January but that ship sailed and sank after the first week - Oh well, there’s always March, my hands don’t feel very good as of writing so I’ll probably rest them for a week or two (^^;

Next is… A new story? Yes I’m getting in my once yearly addition to that part of the website early this time :P That wasn’t the idea behind this though, the story I’m releasing is a new short one ‘Misremembered Daylight, Remembered Moonlight’ it’s a bunch of small snapshots that sort of fit together to make a little story alongside some shameless loredumping lol. It was actually written for the MoWS booklet, but a *small* change of plans means it no longer fits in that project, thankfully it’ll fit in just fine on the website~ Other than that I don’t have much to say as of right now, it’ll be up on this site right now (unless you’re somehow reading this SoD right after I post it) so go read it; it’s short but I’m happy with how it turned out~

That’s it then - I’ve already been over the TALENA anniversary in that opening, nothing much for me to add beyond what’s already been said - TALENA anniversaries aren’t really worth celebrating in my book, the fact I ended up releasing a story alongside this one was pure coincidence; no point in releasing it next month just to avoid that.

Really short blog post this isn’t it? Probably the shortest for quite a decent while…
