State of Decay #11 (August 2025): Small updates.
Well there’s not much time left until that first anniversary, is there? There’ll be a SoD on August 1st, then another on the anniversary day; that’s what I’ve been planning to do - Even if it means that August 1st SoD will never have anything of value or substance ever.
Anyway, over the last month I’ve done a little bit, I can say that I’m very much (almost) back in the groove of things; although I haven’t worked on anything that is really “show offable” material, so you’ll have to excuse both this and next month’s post being very thin on details. In terms of how I’ve been, I have to say I have *not* been enjoying the constant heatwaves, summer sucks but this is the first summer in a while where I’ve felt I couldn’t do too much even when I wanted to; also doesn’t help that I was “””busy””” and unavailable for the first week and a bit of the month. The only positive of this month is that it’s felt really long, too bad I couldn’t take advantage of that.
So, in terms of what’s been worked on this month, it’s only two things really worth mentioning. First would be that I’ve made some decent headway in working on the sound effects again, I’m almost past the really insufferably boring parts and nearly at the point where I’m ready to just start making them - It’ll be nice to move on from those placeholder sound effects, it's quite an overdue breakup haha (^^; Currently my notes include… 386 sound effects, which seems like it’s a number I won't be reaching even if the full list doesn’t seem *that* excessive when you read what each one is for. The other thing that I’ve been working on is a little something that should end up done for the anniversary (hopefully), I’ve made some ok progress on that even if there’s still a lot to do; it’s quite a small project but even then I might have still bit off more than I can chew - Nothing new there.
I also updated the website a little here and there; it was mostly just changing some wording of some things and, the reason I’m even mentioning this, wide images now scale themselves down to fit the display rather than continue offscreen and ruin the formatting of the whole page (read: mobile works on pages with screenshots now).
So that’s that, nothing of note really; makes me wonder how long that August SoD will be haha. Let’s just hope that the heatwaves are over and that I’ll be able to finish that little project *and* maybe do some decent other bits of work. Eh, probably not - I’ll probably just end up “announcing” that little project because it inevitably won't be done :P

This month’s crystal ball grazing: Fancy new things bring new experiences, but what about the fancy old things? Their experiences can be just as new, you know.
