State of Decay #6 (March 2025): Small Updates + TALENA 3rd anniversary.
Halfway to a full year of blog posts, it’s hard to imagine it’s already March… I swear the year just started two weeks ago, but here we are. Isn’t March the start of spring? I like winter quite a bit, but it’ll be nice to see some colours outside again even if it takes until the later stretch of the month. I guess that means I spent half of winter being very productive… the less said about the other half the better unfortunately…
Between me being generally lazy in January and getting quite ill for the better part of February, I’ve done very very little recently; so little in fact, that there isn’t really anything of note to talk about in this blog post; I’ve used up all of the (obvious) low hanging fruit… Didn’t even make it to six months before I couldn’t come up with any ideas :/
Not to say that there isn’t anything *at all* to talk about, for starters, I did manage to do a few small things over the last five or so days of February. I’ve started chipping away at the last few bullet sprites, I know they were supposed to be done ages ago at this point, but it’s fine if I do at least one every few days (which I am); the final count will be into the thousands in terms of individual frames. I also did a little work on some backgrounds, specifically the spell card backgrounds that all bosses use. I like it quite a lot, although it might cause visibility issues for some people, I’ll add an option to make them static… probably. The only other thing of note is that I’ve been working on some music, mostly updating old tracks to use the DPCM+MMC5, but I’ve also been trying (and failing) to make new tracks; I’ve been in the mood for making music recently, I hope it last for at least half a month more so I can knock out a bunch!

Told you I didn’t have anything to talk about now, I’m still coming down from illness, concerningly, more things are cropping up that might cause issues in terms of getting/being ill… I’m not usually a sickly person, but this past six months just hasn’t been great for me.
Oh, and it’s TALENA’s third anniversary, wow! amazing! Yeah, not worth celebrating like Toparo’s anniversaries will be; I wanted to do something, but eh… Like I said, it’s not too important or noteworthy, not to mention the fact I’ve been ill. I considered showing off some development materials and a look at some of the game experiments I made before I decided on making a shmup, but doing that sort of thing would make more sense *after* I’ve released something, you know? (I’m also not entirely sure they still exist, I might have deleted the games themselves at some point, oops).
That’s that then~ Like I’ve said before, if there *is* anyone actually reading these, I’d welcome some suggestions of what you want to see me natter on about in these blog posts; maybe there’s something I think is boring or uninteresting that’d you’d be interested in??? Fire away, because I think most of the blog posts in the foreseeable future will be like this one until Demo 0 is near done (^^;
